It’s no surprise that Disney films are packed with life lessons.
From Peter Pan to Mary Poppins-- these films have exerted knowledge that likely helped build a foundation for our moral compass as children. They may be fictitious characters, but they sure do spout out some wise words. Here are 10 of the wisest quotes from Disney movies:
Pinocchio

It’s important for us always trust our gut instincts, rather than succumb to the pressure of what others may perceive as the right decisions. Our conscious is what helps us know right from wrong, and we should always have that be our guiding light through life.
The Little Mermaid
...or better known as “the grass is always greener on the other side.” The meaning behind this saying proposes to us that we should be grateful for what we have, without wonder of what could be. Sure, it’s easy to be curious of what our life could be if we were to make other decisions, but it’s not always rainbows and butterflies on that side.
Mary Poppins
One lesson that we were taught from Mary Poppins is to be curious and try new things. When we try new things, it helps build character and hopefully create a more open mind. There is so much for us to learn in school, but experience is something that we must conquer on our own.. Go out and explore the world!
Peter Pan

This one is fairly self-explanatory. However, more specifically, it’s important to keep a positive attitude. A positive outlook can be the start to a positive life. Rather than having negativity bring us down, “thinking happy thoughts” will help create a more positive environment for not only ourselves, but also those who surround us.
Mulan
“Mulan” by Edson Campos | Shop: https://bit.ly/2seVpyq
In short, this quote means that when faced with hardships, we always come out of it stronger and better than before. While tough life circumstances are always hard to persevere in the moment, once the storm has passed we are always left with many lessons to take with us for the rest of our lives.
The Many Adventures of Winnie The Pooh
“Curious Bear” by Rob Kaz | Shop: https://bit.ly/2RaM1uK
This quote touches on the fact that others usually see us in a much better light than we see ourselves. So often, we are our worst critics. It wouldn’t hurt to see ourselves the way that others do from time to time-- because often, we are capable of so much more than we believe to be true. A little confidence can go a long way.
Beauty and the Beast
“Little Town” by Paige O’Hara | Shop: https://bit.ly/2SK5ted
In a society that puts so much of an emphasis on looks, it’s important for us to take words like these to heart. As clichė as it may seem, we should never judge a book by it’s cover. We should get to know people, rather than basing our judgements on appearance. If we do this, more often than not, we could find something truly special or unexpected.
Aladdin
“Falling For Aladdin” by Rob Kaz | Shop: https://bit.ly/2FfLf8v
While life may throw many obstacles our way, we must persevere. When someone can endure through a rough patch in life, it says great depths about their character. Keep trying and you could be pleasantly surprised with the lessons you learn along the way.
Dumbo
“Joy Of Flight” by Rob Kaz | Shop: https://bit.ly/2RhctCT
While we may see certain characteristics within ourselves as flaws, they are also the parts of us that make us stand out from everyone else. This quote is essentially telling us that we need to embrace our flaws as the pieces of us that make us beautiful and unique. Love yourself, flaws and all.
Alice in Wonderland
“Contrarywise” by Toby Bluth | Shop: https://bit.ly/2QvBBRn
In other words, think before you speak. If we speak too often before thinking about our words, it’s easy for them to begin to lose their meaning from time to time. We should also take the time to truly think about what others are saying to us, rather than thinking about what our next word will be. Our words should come out in quality, not necessarily quantity.
While Disney films are considered children’s movies, they always have very adult lessons for us to learn. Some are more simple than others, but these wise words are ones that should be carried with us from the moment that we see them as children, all the way into adulthood.
